American Indian, French Regence Period, Large Relief Embossed And Gilded Brass

A superb relief that was to adorn the door of a Regency or Louis XV period cartel clock, central character of which is a large Indian chief adorned of feathers, carrying a bow, spectacularly at ease in an environment where baroque rockery has replaced the vegetation of Louisiana and New France, French possessions at period.
tool embossed, openwork and gilded brass sheet, 18th century period, probably Parisian work.
Approximately 22cm x 16.5cm.
Good condition, wear from use, there is still some period gilding, the large chief has a cut on his left arm, see red arrows….
