The artistic vicissitudes of this formidable still life artist active in Milan in the second half of the 17th century developed thanks to Lugi Salerno, who managed to discover this very talented painter at a time of historical and artistic obscurity.
It is evident that the high quality of his art greatly influenced contemporary and subsequent naturamortistica production, by virtue of the refined crepuscular settings, the luminosity that is accentuated by the deep tones of colour, which seem to compete with the well-known examples of Caravaggio.
We can affirm that the main characteristics of our painter concern his skill in the luministic accentuation of the depicted, at times capable of arriving at truly flamboyant reds, yellows and greens in the illustration of peaches, apples, quinces, pears and medlars, as can easily be seen in these two beautiful and fresh canvases where the fruits, placed on two rocky crags, stand out thunderously from the dark background.
The paintings and works of art published here are my exclusive property and therefore are always available to be viewed, by appointment, in my exhibition sites located in Sanremo and Brescia.
