* To be attributed without a doubt to Jean-Baptiste Leprince (1734-1781).
This drawing comes from the former collection of Comte de Bessas de La Mégie (extensive information on this great French noble family is available on the Internet).
It is presented in a handsome Louis XVI key frame, gilded with gold leaf (you'll notice a small accident on the underside of the engraved plate, but not much in the way of restoration).
Enthusiasts familiar with the work of Jean-Baptiste Leprince will undoubtedly recognize his work.
Our drawing deals with a rather rare subject that has already been the subject of at least one drawing by Leprince, in this case a scene that has the particularity of depicting bird hunters.
On the left is the bird in flight, fleeing its nest; below, the shepherd's flock of sheep rests, as does his dog, in the foreground.
Sight size: 14.5 x 10cm / Framed: 38.5 x 33.5 cm
