******************************************

Rare potbellied BOTTLE with four loops, in stoneware with pastille and incised floral motifs with gray and manganese glaze on a coarse blue background, decorated on both sides with complex coats of arms surrounded by a mention probably relating to a corporation of grinders.
Height: 23.5 cm.
WESTERWALD, early 18th century.

The collar of the neck has been restored for about a third of its surface. The interior is partly weighted with plaster and cracks are indicated by yellow arrows in the photographs. However, this is a very rare form in the production of German stoneware which is largely composed of mugs and pitchers. First observation as far as I am concerned of this atypical bottle. The last photograph is the transcription of the text surrounding one of the coats of arms.
