A Belgian artist born in 1799, Edouard Autrique learned the art of painting in the studio of his father Jean Baptiste Joseph Autrique and Jean-Joseph Kinson. The painter specialized in various fields of painting. In 1817, he exhibited two canvases sent from Paris at the Brussels Salon, and four portraits at the Gent Salon in 1823. He was official painter to the Duke of Gloucester, and appears to have worked in France for much of his career.
