What is the Kusarigama? : The Kusarigama is a traditional Japanese weapon consisting of a Kama (the Japanese equivalent of a sickle) equipped with a metal chain (Kusari) with an iron mace at its end (Fundo). The Kusarigama is said to have been developed during the Muromachi period. To deliver an attack, one must drive and swing the chain with the mace, making large circles above the head, then whip to entangle the spear, sword or other weapon and/or immobilize the opponent's arms or legs.
