- Very good condition, beautiful and very fresh chasing
- An oval-shaped sauceboat with a wide spout with a double handle of celery stalks separated by an oval shield surrounded by a row of pearls and foliage . Base with oval pedestal decorated with channels with matted edges, bordered by a molding of a laurel leaf torus. The body of the sauce boat is decorated with a frieze with alternating fillets of matted rosettes.
- Of this model, we know of a fake pair of sauce boats dated 1782 and 1784 from the Marius Paulme collection sold on April 18-19, 1923 under no. 168 to Henri Viguier, which we find again in 1968 at his sale, presented in the famous exhibition of the Musée des Arts Décoratifs of Paris in the Marsan pavilion in 1926 under no. 203. - Hallmarks: charge (in the pedestal): two intertwined Ls, charge of gold and medium silverwork, Paris, from July 13, 1780 to September 1782 [BP, no. 504]; jurande (under the sauce boat, in the pedestal): crowned S, from August 1, 1781 to July 13, 1782 [BP, 518]; relief (on the edge of the pedestal): satyr's head for large works, Paris from July 13, 1780 to September 1782 [BP, n°505]; master goldsmith: PV with a crowned key, Parisian master goldsmith from December 18, 1776, still active in 1809 [Nocq, T. IV p.82].
