"Dagger Italy XV-xvi Century"
VERY RARE DAGGER KNOWN AS "CINQUEDEA" Italy late 15th early 16th century. Triangular blade, double-edged, iron blade, grooved in the middle, the central part with double fulling, an oval punch on a gilded background at the base. Finely chiseled bronze handle with remains of original gilding, guard with curved arms towards the blade, ribbed and with small acorn-shaped ends, the center of the crossbar is engraved with a stylized bird (?). Animal pommel with two heads with open jaws, iron button in the center. The handle with triangular scales in dark horn. The sides are in chiseled bronze, there are foliage decorations on a granulated background on the front and back, two finely openwork rosettes in the center (characteristic of this period). Smooth sides. Beautiful dagger of unusual shape, unique in its kind and certainly produced by a high-level manufacturer. length 38.2 cm. VENICE 15th century
