He was the second of five children and was educated locally. Her father, who owned property in Tasmania/Australia, initially disapproved of her artistic ambitions, but later helped establish a studio in the family home and finance her artistic training. British artist Ernest Walbourn was a member of the Royal Institute of Oil Painters at the turn of the 20th century, and he specialized in rural scenes of bygone England. Ernest Walbourn's paintings evoke an idealized past, with a style that is both realistic and dreamy. His work was popular during his lifetime, and he exhibited his artwork for 25 years in major exhibitions across the country.
