Very nice miniature ivory carved statue of a Guanyin, seated cross-legged on a large lotus flower forming a throne, holding in her left hand a covered pot and in her right hand a lotus flower. A draped movement above his head forms a halo.
The deity is richly dressed and wears an elaborate set of jewels on her head.
Japan, 19th cty
The work is signed under its base with 2 red ideograms, translated as "the calm mountain". Can it be a place in Japan or the name of a workshop?
Perfect condition, very nice patina and very fine quality of sculpture, with many details of the folds of drapery or the peaceful and serene expression of the subject.
