Both have the same lock markings and the same control punch, R in a shield. One is numbered 4 on the top of the lock, the other is numbered 5. The inside of both locks is perfect. Both have the same manufacturing dates on the right side of the barrels S (for St Etienne) 1855 and the mention MI for Manufacture Impériale. The mention M 1861 on the bottom indicates the date of rifling. Both have the same mentions on the left side C of 17.6 (for the caliber) N (for new) A (for bored) and the same control punches M and F in a circle. The under side of the barrels has a multitude of punches and numbers corresponding to the different tests undergone by these barrels.
Both have the same punches on the brass fittings.
The only difference is the wood markings on the counter-lock side. Number 4 bears a reception stamp dated July 1855 and the mention St Etienne, the other bears only the mention St Etienne.
The mechanisms are in perfect condition. The notches catch clearly. These two pistols are close to new and suitable for shooting.
