Oil on 19th century wood panel, depicting a shepherd on a country path. Bucolic scene signed lower left "Dagnan". Isidore Dagnan (1794-1873), born in Marseille, trained at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris under the tutelage of Jacques-Louis David. His career was marked by regular participation in the Paris Salon, where he received the esteem of his peers and the public. A respected artist of his time, Dagnan distinguished himself with his portraits and historical scenes, obtaining several official commissions that consolidated his reputation in the artistic world of the 19th century. Good general condition, beautiful period frame. Trace of a wax seal on the back. Dimensions without frame: 37 / 29 cm
