Piet Volckaert (Saint-Gilles, 1902 - Laeken, 1973).
Belgian painter and draftsman. Trained at the Academy of Saint-Gilles and with Frans Gaillard. Painter of old places and small streets of Brussels, views of canals, landscapes, forest views of the surroundings of the Rouge-Cloître, portraits. Powerful and spontaneous stroke, subdued palette. Friend of Désiré Haine. Alain Viray called him the "Brussels Utrillo". The municipality of Auderghem awarded him the GELebon prize in 1965. He won the gold medal at the general exhibition in Paris, the gold medal in Villers-la-Ville, and in 1972, the Baron Steens prize. Many of his works were acquired by museums, the Province of Brabant, the French Society of Fine Arts and many public and private administrations.
