Interesting glazed and gilded porcelain inkwell and penholder group, decorated with matte and bright gold, and “scraped” motifs on a matte background, such as scales and ivy friezes. Feather holder featured in the putti's quiver and in the shell it holds. Numbers in black, probably inventory numbers on the underside.
This model was marketed both in Paris and Moscow, including an almost identical model signed Gardner, Couteau-Bégarie sale, May 23, 2013.
Another example is preserved in the House-Museum of the writer Pushkin in St. Petersburg.
These small groups of desk sets were particularly popular between 1810 and 1830. The V&A Museum's collection of Dagoty models is a precious witness to this period.
