"Mahogany Writing Table, Directoire Period, 18th Century"
Mahogany writing table and mahogany veneer on all sides, Directoire period, 18th century. Front opening with a mahogany drawer highlighted by chiseled bronze frames decorated with a diamond in the center. The solid mahogany uprights are inlaid with brass stars on an ebony background, sides modeled on the front. The drawer is joined to a spacer by baluster-shaped banded columns in solid mahogany, the spacer is highlighted by bronze rods. The drawer retains its original interior composed of green leather and its inkwell. White Carrara marble top from the period bordered by its openwork gallery. It rests on four small spinning top feet ending in bronze sabots. Original lock working with its key. Parisian work from the Directoire period, 18th century.
