Dimensions: unframed: 55cm x 40cm Émile Salkin (1900-1977), Belgian. Painter, designer, graphic artist, creator of tapestry cartoons. He went to study in Paris in 1921 and perfected his skills with Rossi and Naudin. Emile Salkin's career is punctuated by several distinct periods that begin with a figurative style and a fauve palette in the years 1928 to 1945. A surrealist period followed, then a Spanish period, then a circulation period, then a period approaching lyrical abstraction and expressionism. He returned to figurative art in 1966 and evolved in the 1970s towards a style that took him to the limits of abstraction. He collaborated with Paul Delvaux on several large murals, with whom he remained friends all his life. He was also a professor and director of the Academy of Fine Arts in Anderlecht. His works are featured in various collections of the Belgian state as well as in prestigious private collections. His works are exhibited in several museums: Liège, Brussels, Tournai.
