Champagne landscape taken from life representing a sunset over fields. Painted in oil on cardboard, it is signed lower right and framed in a wooden and stucco frame from the end of the 19th century. Without a frame, the cardboard measures 16.3x21.5 cm. Georges Bourgin was born in 1865 in Champagne. He studied painting first in Troyes then at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris in the studios of Léon Bonnat and Jean-Léon Gérôme, in particular. He returned to Champagne where he mainly painted landscapes, portraits and still lifes.
