"A Louis XV Period Edging Silk Droguet Hanging - France Circa 1740"
Circa 1740 France Precious hanging or table cloth in silk drugge with border dating from the Louis XV period. Clever fluted background cream background with currents of undulating ribbons dotted with florets in pastel shades of salmon, celadon green and cream. Mounted in three strips sewn with original selvedges presenting several pieces probably from an old dress. The silk drugge which was made in Lyon or Tours, often completed the wardrobe of gentlemen in the form of a waistcoat or a leotard. Perfect for a historical decoration and resistant enough for Louis XV seat cushions. No lining. Very slight variations in color to note, but no holes or stains. Very good condition. Dimensions: 222 cm 136 cm.
