"Cuval Fethiye - Anatolia. Circa 1960. 250 X 82 Cm"
Very nice Cuval from Fethiye in the southwest of Turkey. Cuval are cereal bags used in the past by the nomadic populations of Anatolia. This one has simply been unstitched and opened to form a piece to be placed on the ground or a corridor. Often, these objects are made up of two separate parts. The front is generally worked and embroidered with patterns while the back is made up of horizontal bands using the same shades. Woven and embroidered wool on wool in the traditional way. Very beautiful plant shades, all in softness and harmony. Circa 1960 Very good condition, two small restorations barely visible. Dim: 250 x 82 cm Laurent Beauty of Kilims
