Large Oil On Canvas: “the Wine Drinkers” By Guy Pennamen

Large and beautiful animated genre scene depicting seven characters including sailors and a sailor's wife spending time together drinking wine in a bistro in the port of Concarneau. The faces are tired and weary, probably returning from an unsuccessful fishing trip. Important oil on canvas signed by the painter Guy Pennamen and probably executed between 1973 and 1975. This Concarneau painter born in 1932 and died in 2022 exhibited and won numerous prizes in France including the Grand Prix de la ville de THOUARS 1973, a canvas acquired by the Museum of this city. Exceptionally large painting by this artist who was used to smaller formats and from which emerges an impression worthy of certain currents of miserabilism. Extremely decorative!
