Oil on panel 37x54 cm "The port in Brittany" circa 1920
Signed lower left
A student of Bouguereau, Marcel Canet exhibited since 1903 at the Salons of French Artists, Autumn and Orientalists, as well as in various Galleries in Paris, Algiers and London ...
He executed the decoration of the Grand Hotel of Paimpol, disappeared today, but his works can be found in the Museums of Morlaix, Kerjean in Brittany.
He owes his fame as much to his orientalist as to his Breton works.
Marcel Canet paints this view of a small Breton port in a bright palette in broad touches evoking the Brittany that is dear to him, without sacrificing traditional regionalism.
