Artist info: Van Beers studied at the Antwerp Academy. In 1873, he travelled to London with Alexandre Struys. In 1878, Van Beers went to Paris, where he worked in the studio of Alfred Stevens. Between 1879 and 1881, the sculptor Jef Lambeaux stayed with Van Beers in Paris. In 1884, he lived at 15 Impasse Hélène, Avenue de Clichy in Paris. Van Beers gradually became part of fashionable circles in Paris.
