August Kiss (1802–1865) August Kiss trained at the Paprotzan Ironworks and the Royal Foundry in Gleiwitz. He later took courses in chasing and drawing at the Academy under Leonhard Posch. From 1825 he worked as a student and then as an assistant in the studio of Daniel Rauch. In 1830 Kiss obtained a teaching position at the Royal Institute of Education in Berlin. He also collaborated on several occasions with his friend and colleague Karl Friedrich Schinkel. The marble version of the sculpture Fighting Amazon, one of his masterpieces, is now in the Royal Museum of Fine Arts in Antwerp. Kiss also designed the tombs of Karl Friedrich Schinkel and Christian Daniel Rauch.
