"The Dutch furniture manufacturer Rohé Noordwolde comes from the small town of Noordwolde in the northern province of Friesland. Although the history of the company's founding and demise remains unknown, the town of Noordwolde itself has long been associated with the rattan furniture sector; in addition, the furniture and interior decorations produced by Rohé in the 1950s are part of Noordwolde's artisanal heritage. Noordwolde began as a cottage industry town in 1825 and produced over 200,000 wicker products per year by the end of the 19th century. Rohé Noordwolde contributes to this number by producing rattan dining chairs , lounge chairs , daybeds and cradles. The most famous designer with whom Rohé works The company is the Dutch craftsman Dirk Van Sliedregt (1920-2010), known for his Model 514 Lounge Chair (1961) consisting of a rattan seat on a chromed metal base. The chair is sometimes attributed to the manufacturer Gebroeders Jonkers in Noordwolde, for whom the designer Van Sliedregt also worked during the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s."
