SUPERB VIRGIN OF CUZCO The Virgin of the Andes is an expression that refers to the typical virgins of Latin America such as the Virgin of Bethlehem, that of Copacabana or that of Pomata for example. The representation of this type of virgin is important for the Cuzco school, because it allows the coexistence of Christian worship and local worship4. In fact, with this type of image, "Amerindian or mestizo artists can express themselves in the choice of motifs, colors, materials and techniques, which refer to indigenous cultural practices and representations."
