"Marie-antoinette Bust"
Bust of Marie-Antoinette in biscuit (hard porcelain) from the royal manufacture of Sèvres mounted on an ornate bronze foot. (Very slight accident on the back). Signed and stamped Felix Lecomte (posterior). The artist (1737-1817) sculpted Marie-Antoinette when she was 28 years old in 1783. Only two sculptors had the right to post-process the queen: Boizot and Lecomte. This sculpture is therefore the official relief portrait of the queen but also the best known. Marie-Antoinette poses with her royal coat decorated with fleur-de-lis and lined with ermine. Her tall fashionable wig is enriched with ribbon flowers. The queen wears a large profile portrait of her husband Louis XVI in a medallion. The original marble work is exhibited at Versailles on the fireplace in the queen's bedroom.
