"Alf Svensson Armchair, Sonett, 1954"
Sonett armchair circa 1954. Ljungs Industrier, Malmö. Wooden construction, brown/green textile upholstery, teak armrests. Alf Svensson (1929-1992) was one of the most influential Swedish designers of the mid-20th century. His minimalist designs contributed to the success of Scandinavian design in the 1950s. The Sonett armchair is not the designer's best-known object but the rarest. It is estimated that fewer than 10 Sonett 1-seater armchairs exist. His works are exhibited at the Museum of Modern Art in New York and the Victoria & Albert Museum in London.
