These large rhytons each represent a putto carrying a cornucopia, an oval terrace decorated with added flowers and with a rim decorated with grooves supports the whole.
As for the beautiful pieces of Edme Samson, the work is excellent, we will note the flowers of beautiful quality of painting for example. Their large and unusual size for rhytons gives them an elegant presence.
Moreover, the Samson house increased the sizes of its creations compared to the models reproduced or inspiring. Indeed, this factory specialized in the reproduction of porcelain pieces, it even bought shapes from Sèvres which were reproduced in large size. It also reproduced enamels painted in the medieval model of an extreme quality. The notion of copying to deceive did not exist at the time for this type of reproduction, moreover Samson had its own signatures, as on our rhytons.
Conditions :
Good condition, some small accidents on the flowers and a small break without loss under a cornucopia. Small firing cracks without fragility (these defects are noted but almost invisible).
