"17th Century Bronze Lantern. 19th Century Wood And Bronze Frame."
This lantern is made of cast bronze and cut with a chisel, it is a work from the 17th century. It was probably mounted as a wall light in the middle of the 19th century using an oak plaque carved in relief on which was fixed a very original gallows made of forged and riveted bronze ribbons. The result is harmonious and the wall light is thus very elegant. The choice of bronze ribbons was judicious, the artist was able to combine solidity and lightness, which would not have been the case with cast bronze. It is not uncommon to come across this type of lamp but this one is of good quality with many details and in addition the mount makes it a unique creation. Good condition, old tin restoration visible on photo. The lantern alone: 15cm, 50cm with its chain. The oak plaque: 45x25cm The height of the whole: 65cm The projection of the gallows: 26cm
