"Italian Miniature Gouache. 1864"
Miniature after Titian. The Venus of Urbino. Gouache signed Augusto Conti and dated 1864 on the left side. Crack. Openwork gilded frame with acanthus leaf decoration (slight accident). Has an old label on the back written in Italian. L: 16 x H 11 cm (excluding frame). A beautiful, completely naked woman invites you with a naughty look. The decoration seems to define an allegory of marriage with the little dog that symbolizes marital fidelity and in the background of the work a girl who opens a chest: allegory of fertility. The original is in the Uffizi Gallery in Florence.
