"Monolatitude Dial By Bion, C. 1680"
Octagonal horizontal sundial and monolatitude in brass bearing the large signature of Nicolas à Bion in Paris. The instrument can be dated to the end of the 17th century, around 1680. The plate is engraved with a single hourly scale for the latitude of 49th, the latitude of Paris. The folding gnomon is magnificently engraved with a leaf decoration. The original needle works perfectly. The instrument does not show any restoration marks. Note an old cleaning. Dial size: 6.9x5.9cm.
