Watercolor 33x49 cm "Le Cap Sicié sur la "Côte d'Azur"" circa 1930
Signed lower left; titled on the back "Côte d'Azur"
Trained in the workshops of Benjamin Constant and Jean-Paul Laurens, Jules Herve-Mathé became a drawing teacher at the age of 23 in Epinal, then directed the School of Applied Arts in Le Mans for 35 years before settling in Paris in 1940.
Post Impressionist, and excellent watercolorist, he sets up his easel in all corners of France with a predilection for Brittany.
We find him more rarely in the south, as in this luminous view of Cap Sicié near Toulon where he invites us to follow the coastal path in this beautiful watercolor with warm harmonies of color.
His works are in many Museums.
