Gothic chest in oak wood consisting of four panels on the front and two panels on each side, the latter are carved with tight napkin folds, the base is very good, the top is later. The piece of furniture is waxed and brushed. The chest at this time serves as storage for clothes, dishes, tapestries and all decorative objects, it is mobile and moves from one castle to another depending on the seasons and the heritage of the lord. It is the only storage furniture, well before the arrival of the wardrobe, and therefore, the Gothic chest is considered the oldest piece of furniture available to date. France, Picardy or North of France, late 15th century, early 16th century.
