"Large Monoxyl Wood Bed - Senoufo Culture - Ivory Coast - Origin"
Large solid wood bed from the Senoufo culture It is carved from a single tree trunk. One end is raised relative to the body to serve as a headrest. It rests on four feet carved from the block. 202cm long 34cm wide 20cm high Provenance: Old Tarn collection. The bed was purchased for 9500 francs in 1970 by the former owner. Beautiful old patina. The Senoufo bed was used for rest and, on a daily basis, by the village chief as a sofa. It was also a bed for funeral rites. For the Senoufo, funerals are a celebration, full of joy and hope.
