Elegant Gentleman type 1830-37 (William IV Reign) Sheffield featuring two folding blades and pretty carved mother of pearls handles
The main blade is the type known as *wharncliffe*. This type of blade with a totally flat cutting edge is considered by many as one of the finest, most practical and versatile designs for a pocket knife blade
The knife is completed by a secondary pen blade
Stamped with the Sheffield maker’s mark beneath *W crown R* (William IV Reign)
This knife can be classified as a serpentine due to its curved body shape, enhanced with finelycarved mother of pearl slabs over matching scalloped liners
Back of the spring nicely hand file-worked
Aside a front hairline crack by the central pin and a tiny hairline on the back slab the pearl remains in great conditions with no other damage to note
Blades snap firmly and are razor sharp, still in full profile.
