Portrait of Joseph Louis Marie Jacquard, inventor of the "Jacquard" loom. Reduction, after the painting by Claude Bonnefond (1796-1860) and woven according to the model of that of the Maison de soierie Didier Petit in Lyon (Didier Petit de Meurville (1793-1873) (1). Dated 1886, the card shows on its edge the 7 stages of the life of the silkworm, a specialty of the Lyon industry and in its center, the portrait of J. Jacquard signed by Meyssin (2) in Lyon, former professor of manufacturing theory and living on rue des Capucins in Lyon (elements attested on the front of the card). A number 1999 at the bottom left.
