II René-Marie Castaing (1896-1943): "Saint Vincent de Paul" charcoal 60 X 43 cm squared in red chalk, with on the back a study of a bouquet in pastel, presented under a neutral pH mat 80 X 60 cm. First Grand Prix de Rome 1924, the immense artist excelled particularly in works on paper: charcoals, pastels or gouaches. If I never met him for obvious reasons of dates, his birthplace was just opposite the Galerie de Pau! With a sensitivity that allowed him to capture the soul of his models, he delivers here the seated priest, holding a baby on his knees.
