"Ix Rene-marie Castaing : “extended Study Of A Woman”"
IX René-Marie Castaing (1896-1943): “Study of a stretched woman”, charcoal and white chalk highlights on kraft paper 37 X 56 cm, presented under neutral pH mat 80 X 60 cm. Signed and dated 1939. First Grand Prix de Rome 1924, the immense artist excelled particularly in works on paper: charcoals, pastels or gouaches. If I never met him for obvious reasons of dates, his birthplace was just opposite the Galerie de Pau! With a sensitivity that allowed him to capture the soul of his models, he delivers here one of his voluptuous Nudes, characteristic of those he introduced in his large decorations such as at Diusse or at the Villa Saint-Basil's. We permanently present works by this artist and outside of this collection, you can also see other studies. Do not hesitate to ask us for photos or additional information by email or telephone. Other photos and many other objects in our shops in Pau and Biarritz and on our website: galerielhoste.com.
