X  René-Marie Castaing (1896-1943): “Two studies of arms”, charcoal and white chalk highlights on irregularly cut kraft paper 45 X 39 cm, presented under neutral pH mat 80 X 60 cm. Squared for mounting, a stain at the top. First Grand Prix de Rome 1924, the immense artist excelled particularly in works on paper: charcoals, pastels or gouaches. If I never met him for obvious reasons of dates, his birthplace was just opposite the Galerie de Pau! With a sensitivity that allowed him to capture the soul of his models, he gives us here a study of arms, probably for “The Resurrection” of the chapel of the Immaculate Conception of Pau We permanently present works by this artist and outside of this collection, you can also see other studies.
