19th century European work
Steel and silver-plated bronze
Total length: 24.5 ; L.: 4.8 cm
Blade length: 12 cm
This romantic dagger, also known as a dagger of virtue, is made of steel and silver-plated bronze, worked in the round. The fuse features Saint Michael, armed with a dagger, slaying the dragon. The cruise is centered on the head of a bearded man, and the two-pronged guard is in the form of foliage scrolls. The scabbard features similar decoration on both sides: organized along an axial axis of symmetry, a winged owl's head sums a cartouche and flowery arches.
The straight, double-edged, grooved steel blade has a pointed tip.
