French School of the 18th century, portrait of a parliamentary aristocrat, magistrate or King's attorney of the Louis XVI period. He wears a powdered wig and the red and black robe of his condition. Seated at a table covered with a fleur-de-lys tablecloth, this last detail specifies the prestige of his royal office. Oil on oval canvas presented in its original frame with a row of pearls, in carved wood and gilded with gold leaf. Late 18th century, 1770s-80s. Portrait of fine workmanship, unsigned. The painting is clean, well painted. The 18th century frame has retained its original gilding (cleaned by our gilder). Frame: 73.3cm x 89cm Canvas: 63cm x 80cm
