The famous Berlin black cast iron jewelry has existed since 1806. It was the Prussian royal foundries that launched this daring and eccentric collection of black iron jewelry. If this metal has survived the years so well, it is because it is in fact an alloy of iron and carbon then covered with a layer of black lacquer and waxed/patinated for a bright appearance and to protect against oxidation.
