Crystal Reliquary And Its Authentic From 1759
Set with a fine assembly, our rare double-sided reliquary is made of crystal. It displays ex-indumentis relics, therefore vestments, of two saints of whom few relics are found. It is a fragment of a liturgical pluvial of Saint Cajetan of Thiene, canonized in 1671 and a vestment of Saint Andrew Avellin canonized in 1712.
A very legible authentic from the Archbishop of Genoa Joseph-Marie Saporiti accompanies this astonishing collector's item. Saint Cajetan of Thiene is the founder of the Theatine order who took the apostles as models and Saint Avellin applied to this same order in 1556. In 1560 both were received by Pope Paul IV who was also co-founder of this order.
It is therefore the Theatine order that is elegantly recalled here.
