China, late Ming period, early Qing period, 17th century, superb, rare and very old lacquered and gilded wooden statue representing Kouan Yin, Buddhist goddess of mercy. She is dressed in formal attire, seated on a throne, holding a child on her left knee. This statue is reminiscent of certain statues of the Virgin Mary dating from the Haute-Époque. Height 33.5 cm. Good condition of conservation except for normal wear and tear in relation to age and some old woodworm attacks, now neutralized. The scale indicator in the last photograph is a small model of a lighter from a well-known brand. We take particular care with our packaging by using optimum protection.
