The statue of the Winged Victory of Samothrace is named after the island on which it was found, located in the northern Aegean Sea. It is now in the Louvre Museum and has become one of its iconic masterpieces, along with the Mona Lisa. Its creator remains unknown to this day, although some evidence suggests that it was ordered by Demetrius Poliorcetes between 295 and 290 BC.
