"Sword Of A Division General Under Louis Philippe."
Beautiful sword of a Major General under Louis Philippe (1830 - 1848). The blade is marked at the ricasso on one side "Manufacture de Klingenthal" and on the other side "Coulaux ainé & comp". Gilded bronze mount, folding secondary plate, main plate decorated and finely chiseled with a rooster surrounded by laurel leaves on a bundle of six flags, three silver stars added to the external lip of the plate attribute this sword to a Major General. Truncated cone-shaped pommel with relief decoration of a cornucopia, the top of the pommel offers a relief decoration of a heliotrope flower surrounding the riveting of the silk. Black horn fuse, silver filigree, two ferrules with floral motif finishing the two ends of the fuse. Metal scabbard with oxidation (orange flecks). In addition to the certain historical interest, this sword has the advantage of being in a good general state of conservation, with traces of use. Gilding with small alterations. I would like to point out the absence inside the scabbard of the metal part which holds the blade, visible in photo No. 12. Total length 103 cm, blade 84 cm.
