Count Auguste de FORBIN (1777-1841), painter, writer, archaeologist and general director of the Louvre Museum, distinguished himself in literature with this melancholic story of love and death which, through its plot and its magical evocations of Naples and Rome, can be considered the incontestable source from which Lamartine drew for "Graziella". First edition augmented with 3 original drawings and watercolors by the writer.
