"Large Bust Of Jean Racine In Patinated Plaster, Early 20th Century."
This large bust in patinated full plaster attributed to the Louvre workshops is an old print that represents Jean Racine (1639-1699) after the work of Louis-Simon Boizot (1743-1809) treated in a very Louis XIV spirit. The original work in marble dating from 1779 was exhibited at the Salon of 1779, it was given by the artist to the Comédie Française. A plaster bust was exhibited at the Salon of 1783 and 1785. The museum of Springfield, Massachusetts keeps a terracotta copy.
