Alfred Barye , renowned French sculptor , known as "the Son", or "Alf Barye", born in Paris on January 21 , 1839 .
Alfred Barye was a pupil of his father , the sculptor Antoine-Louis Barye (1795-1875) .
He trained and worked in his father's workshop and foundry .
His work includes animal bronzes as well as orientalist and comic subjects .
He exhibited at the Salon from 1864 to 1882 .
