Object description :

"18th Century Italian Hunting Cutlass"
This hunting knife is typically Italian. It can be dated to the mid-18th century. It is significantly larger than the classic Italian hunting daggers of the same period.
BLADE: It is a strong single-edged blade, with a counter-edge on the last 6 cm near the tip. We can see that it has been used for a long time and has been sharpened many times.
On each side, we find a richly chiseled decoration: On one side a hunting dog holding a basket in its mouth, and on the other an eagle holding a snake in its beak. On each side, fern and flower motifs.
Blade length = 25 cm, width at the base = 4.4 cm, thickness at the base 5.8 mm
HILT : The blade is connected to the hilt by a sort of steel baluster. The handle itself is made of alternating sections of ebony, ivory, and bone and ends with a button on which the tang of the blade is riveted.
Near the blade, a chiseled silver ferrule.

This type of strong hunting knife is a must-have for any lover of hunting-related objects.
